INTRO to FORUM 2009: Education
Suggestions:
- Contact ACNMP, Anne La Plante
- Hands-on Workshop demonstrations for government officials, et al
FORUMS
Are FORUMS a good major activity?
- Don’t re-event the wheel — a list of priorities were already made in
FORUM 2008
- We are gradually addressing these priorities (ie. topic of education) but we should
continue to refer to this info (available online) in order to stay on track
Advocacy
- Evan Ware: Ottawa development
- Lawrence Cherney: Work with everyone else (other organizations) that already do this,
more power and authority to arts councils, politicians
Clemens Merkel: more representation of the councils, politicians at the FORUMS. So they
can provide more details, so we can give them more pressure
- David Pay: But in a specific format (ie. one session ourselves, the next session with
them)
- DB Boyko: A whole panel of funders for a whole day, start to work together.
- Not necessarily about putting them on the “hot seat” -We want to know
more about what they do
Powwow sessions for future FORUMS
- Have the topic of FORUMS planned two years in advance
- A Leap-frogging, dynamic process
- So we can network, and make use of the resources of people gathered at, for example,
FORUM #4 for a “powwow” for FORUM #6
- Motivational, draws in a larger network base on the planning level
More hands-on workshops, demonstrations to show ideas literally in play
Elma Miller: (Continue to) provide a good mix/representation, and have national and
international people
AWARDS
- Beyond our capabilities (?)
- Should we pursue SOCAN, even just to transform it into premieres (with or without
monetary support)
- J-F Denis: Lots of stuff being done but it must by synchronize
- Use the literary awards as a model? Would that transpose effectively for us?
